Imran's bio
Imran joined Loving Library in 2023 and led the Texas Children Hospital chapter and loves reading about different characters and their missions to fight and save people. Texas Children’s Hospital and their infusion center are very near and dear to Imran and his family. Imran has a very rare genetic disorder called Osteogenesis imperfecta or in short, OI. People with this condition have extremely soft bones which means they are very prone to break their bones. It is an extremely rare condition as only .005% of the population have it. So Imran is very special to say the least!
During the pandemic, the Texas Children’s Hospital Infusion Center, where Imran gets his treatments every 3 months, had to close down due to COVID restrictions. The library held a close place in his heart because it was a haven for him during his 6 hour treatments. Imran was able to lose himself on magical adventures while coping with his IVs and blood draws. Imran and his mom, Zarina often found themselves in fantastical jungles or wild escapades instead of in their 3 foot squared hospital bed. When they removed all the books they knew they had to rebuild the library as soon as possible. Through the inspiration of Anaik and his story of helping hospitals during the shut down, they have been able to find a path to do so for Texas Children’s Hospital.
